See which public web and onion sources can contribute to an answer, how fresh they are, and where the coverage gaps are. No search covers the whole dark web.
How do you find information on the dark web?
You search an index, or you ask a service that has already retrieved and stored the text. Onion services are not listed by ordinary web search engines, so discovery depends on published references, a publisher's own announcement, and indexes that have crawled a page. This service searches only the sources an operator has admitted; it does not crawl whatever it finds.
Does a search cover the whole dark web?
No, and no service can honestly claim to. Coverage depends on which discovery providers and source classes have been admitted, on whether a page was reachable when it was retrieved, and on whether it is public at all. Treat a missing result as a gap in what was searched, not as proof that nothing on the subject exists.
Public sources only
The service is for permitted public research. It does not bypass login, paywalls, access controls or private-forum membership. Discovery providers and source classes must be admitted before they contribute.
Scope is explicit
Web searches use public web sources; Onion searches require onion sources. Web + Onion permits either class and identifies which actually contributed. Onion-only never substitutes web results when onion retrieval is unavailable.
Freshness and provenance
A stored version records the text used in an answer. A retrieval date tells you when it was observed, not when every claim became true. A reachable page can still be a copy or impersonation. An unavailable source is a coverage gap, not evidence that its topic does not exist.
Current reference profile
The default local installation searches three reviewed Tor reference notes. Live adapters require operator configuration and containment evidence. The in-app capability notice takes precedence over assumptions based on the product name.
